Made in Europe
This embroidered altar linen set contains a chalice pall, corporal, purificator, and lavabo towel for liturgical use.
White Fabric and IHS Embroidery
The set combines white fabric with gold embroidery. The chalice pall is decorated with an IHS monogram topped with a cross and framed by a symmetrical Baroque border of acanthus leaves and vines. The embroidery covers the pall's entire surface up to its serrated gold edging. The purificator and lavabo towel are made from white cotton fabric with delicate gold cross embroidery and a green embroidered wave along the lower edge.
Materials and Finishes of the Altar Linen Set Components
The chalice pall and corporal are made from polyester fabric (100% polyester) finished with a treatment that helps maintain an attractive appearance. The embroidery on the pall uses gold thread with dense filling characteristic of Baroque design. The purificator and lavabo towel are sewn from white cotton fabric with a white embroidered wave along the bottom.
Four Components of the Green Catholic Altar Linen Set
- Chalice pall: approx. 6.75 × 6.75 in (17 × 17 cm), white polyester with an embroidered IHS monogram surrounded by a gold ornament featuring leaves and plant tendrils, a serrated gold edge, and an easy-care finish. It is used to cover the chalice during the liturgy.
- Corporal: approx. 18.5 × 18.5 in (47 × 47 cm), white polyester fabric with an easy-care finish and edges trimmed with an embroidered wave. It is spread on the altar beneath the chalice and paten.
- Purificator: approx. 18.5 × 9.5 in (47 × 24 cm), white cotton fabric with gold cross embroidery in the center and a white embroidered wave along the bottom. It is used to wipe the chalice and paten during Mass.
- Lavabo towel: approx. 18.5 × 9.5 in (47 × 24 cm), white cotton fabric with gold cross embroidery and a white embroidered wave along the bottom. It is used to dry the celebrant's hands during the lavabo rite.
When to Use a White Altar Linen Set
White is a liturgical color symbolizing joy, purity, and glory. It is used primarily during Christmas and Easter, as well as during celebrations and feasts of the Lord, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the angels, and for memorials of saints who were not martyrs. The set is packaged in a gift box with a clear window, making it suitable as a gift for a first Mass or an ordination anniversary.
