IHS, Chalice, Grapes, and Cross Embroidery

The central element of the chalice pall is an IHS monogram in a round halo, with gold radial rays extending across its entire surface. Beside the halo are an embroidered gold communion chalice, grapes outlined in gold, and a cross made with silver thread. The IHS motif with rays is repeated on the other components of the set.

Fabrics, Protective Film, and Wave Edging

The chalice pall is made of 100% PE polyester fabric with a stain-resistant finish, which helps maintain its cleanliness and attractive appearance. One corner is reinforced with additional protective film. The corporal is sewn from 100% PE polyester fabric. The purificator and lavabo towel are made of cotton. The edge of the chalice pall and corporal is finished with a gold embroidered wave, while the purificator and lavabo towel have a white wave.

Contents and Liturgical Use of the Catholic Altar Linen Set

• Chalice pall (approx. 6.75 × 6.75 in (17 × 17 cm)): made of 100% PE polyester fabric, with embroidery featuring an IHS monogram in a halo with gold rays, a gold chalice, gold grapes, and a silver cross; a gold wave along the edge and protective film in one corner. It is used to cover the chalice during the liturgy.
• Corporal (approx. 17.5 × 17.5 in (45 × 45 cm)): sewn from 100% PE polyester fabric, with an IHS motif and rays in the corners, finished with a gold embroidered wave. It is spread on the altar beneath the chalice and paten.
• Purificator (approx. 15.5 × 9.75 in (40 × 25 cm)): cotton, with an embroidered IHS monogram in a radiant halo and a white wave along the edge. It is used to wipe the chalice and paten during the liturgy.
• Lavabo towel (approx. 15.5 × 9.75 in (40 × 25 cm)): cotton, with an embroidered IHS monogram in a radiant halo and a white wave along the edge. It is used to dry the celebrant’s hands during the lavabo rite.

The white altar linen set does not clash with any color of vestments and can be used throughout the year. Gold embroidery pairs well with gold and gold-plated chalices.
