Made in Europe
This ecru canopy measures 51 × 63 in (130 × 160 cm) and is intended for processions with the Blessed Sacrament, especially Corpus Christi, processions during the octave, and the Easter Resurrection procession.
Catholic processional canopy: four embroidered motifs
Four separate motifs, each embroidered with gold thread and outlined in burgundy, decorate the four sides. The light satin contrasts with the gold embroidery.
Chalice: The chalice with a paten bears the JHS monogram on the altar bread, and the embroidery is surrounded by a radiant glory. IHS monogram: It is filled with gold in a checked pattern, with a red cross above and acanthus decoration at the base. Agnus Dei: It rests on the Book with seven seals (Rev 5) and holds a processional banner with a red streamer. This is an iconographically complete motif. Sacred Heart of Jesus: It is shown with a crown of thorns, gold flames and a white cross at the top, surrounded by a radiant glory. An ornament of wheat and grapes runs between the motifs.
Satin, fringe and rod tunnels
The canopy is made from glossy 100% polyester satin with a stain-resistant finish. Gold fringe finishes the entire lower edge, running continuously along all four sides without gaps. Rod tunnels are provided in the corners and along the sides. The canopy is sold without rods or stiffeners, which are available separately. It is normally carried by four people, one at each rod.
Corpus Christi, the octave and the Resurrection procession
The ecru color is liturgically neutral and does not conflict with any color of the celebrant’s vestments. The canopy is used during Eucharistic processions on Corpus Christi and throughout the octave, including four processions to four altars, during the Resurrection procession, and at parish celebrations with exposition and procession. It pairs with both a white chasuble and a gold cope.
Carrying the canopy, rods and Corpus Christi use
- Carrying capacity: Four people normally carry the canopy, one at each rod at the corners.
- Rods and stiffeners: They are not included with the canopy. Only the canopy with mounting tunnels is included; rods and stiffeners are available separately.
- Corpus Christi use: The ecru canopy is suitable for Corpus Christi. Ecru is a neutral color that pairs with the white and gold liturgical vestments used for the Corpus Christi celebration.
