Altar Server Cape in Catholic Liturgy
The red altar server cape is used in Catholic liturgy during specific celebrations and seasons. Red: it symbolizes martyrdom, the Holy Spirit, and the love and sacrifice of Christ.
It is worn on occasions such as:
- Palm Sunday: commemorates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem
- Good Friday: the day of the Passion of the Lord
- Feast of Pentecost: symbolizes the fire of the Holy Spirit
- Feasts of martyrs: days commemorating saints who gave their lives for the faith, such as Saint Stephen and Saint Adalbert
- Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross: September 14
Red is therefore the color of sacrifice, strength, and courage, and its use in the liturgy emphasizes the special significance of these days.
It is suitable for altar servers who want to appear dignified and elegant during Mass and other devotions.
